PARENTS
After the bride and groom the brides mother is next in importance.
She may need escorting up the aisle.
The brides father escorts the bride and gives the bride away.
The brides father gives the first speech and toasts the bride and groom, at the reception.
GROOM
Appoints a best man and ushers.
Gives flowers to the mothers.
Buys and gives bridesmaids and ushers gifts.
Gives a speech,after the father of the bride and before the best man. The speech should thank the brides parents, wedding party, guests and helpers.
The groom starts the dancing by inviting his bride to join him for their first dance as a married couple.
BRIDE
Chooses her wedding gown, bridesmaid dresses and accessories.
Chooses the overall style and colour scheme of the wedding - outfits, stationary, cake, catering and decorations
Provides a wedding gift list, notes who gave what. Then hand writes and sends out thank you cards
Receives her guests at the reception
BEST MAN
Organizes the stag night.
Cares for the groom and ushers, checks their outfits and gets them both to church.
Looks after the wedding rings.
Distributes buttonholes and ensures Order of Service cards are in place.
Escorts the chief bridesmaid to the reception. Joins the receiving line.
Gives the last speech and reads any telegrams or emails.
BRIDESMAIDS
and
THE FLOWER GIRL
Helps with the wedding planning and choosing outfits including the wedding dress. Assists the bride and bridesmaids get ready.
Organizes the hen night.
Greets the bride at the church, checks her appearance and cares for the brides bouquet.
Joins the receiving line
Dances with the best man
Flower Girls carry a basket of petals which they scatter along the bridal path.
USHERS
and
THE RING BEARER
Welcome guests at the church, hand out Order of Service sheets. Accompany
guests to their seats.
They direct brides family to the left of the church and grooms to the right
After the service the ushers guide guests or transport them to the reception,
they leave the church last to ensure there are no stragglers.
The ring bearer carries a cushion with the wedding rings tied on.
